Feeling Human

I wish I could tell you just how it feels
To have everything inside of me ripped out and put on a plate
Savaged and marinated in pepper and salt
Standing by idly – dazed but awake.

The wounds are bloodless and the scars unseen
Tell me what it feels like to be a human being
Through turmoil and entropy I seek your hand
The sun shines lifeless over this cursed land.

Life is loveless and sin is great
No longer will I fight my fate
Dreams abundance with monsters in masks
Dancing and mocking – there's no escape.

Friendship on fire as my soul is flogged
Deeper and deeper the knife digs in
Give me nothing or give me all
Witness the triumph as I continue to fall.

Words cannot even begin to describe
When mind versus sanity in darkening light
Freedom is but a double edged sword
Still I wish to see outside these walls.
